Child Care Health Consultant: Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. is seeking a full time Child Care Health Consultant for Steuben, Schuyler Counties. The Child Care Health Consultant is responsible for supporting and providing professional development opportunities that will increase the ability of child care programs to adequately provide high quality care by acting as a health care resource and trainer. The Consultant will arrange for the position of health services and education and act as a liaison between child care programs and health care professionals. The Consultant will ensure technical assistance and consultation is offered on issues related to regulations and working with special services and will maintain the standards of the National Quality Assurance reporting requirements. Must adhere to all contractual and regulatory requirements. Qualifications: P.N., P.A., N.P. or M.D. must have a clean driver’s license and criminal background check will be conducted. Must have a working vehicle and be able to lift up to 30 pounds. This position is 37.5 hours per week with some flexible evening and Saturday hours in order to meet child care programs hours of operation and the training schedule. E.O.E.

Job Coordinator - Hornell - Pro Action is seeking a Job Coordinator for America's Job Center in Hornell.  Duties: Coordinate office activities; schedule Job Center coverage and use of computer lab and resource room and other areas of the center; provide job search assistance and job coaching leading to customer employment; provide/coordinate pre-employment, job search, and job retention skill workshops; provide excellent customer service to customers; make referrals to appropriate resources; provide initial orientation to Career Center services; effectively and productively handle complaints/emergency situations; facilitate community and agency partners to set up on-site job interviews, recruitments, job fairs, and trainings.  Qualifications: Successful candidate must possess management/coordination experience, good communication skills, good computer skills, and Associate's degree in Human Service or a related field with a minimum of 3 years working in Human Services.  Position is full time, 37.5 hours per week.  EOE.

Nutrition Educator - Pro Action's WIC program has an immediate opening for a Nutrition Educator.  This health professional will assess the nutrition and health status of potential clients and establish eligibility for program services.  Will provide client centered nutrition, breastfeeding, and healthy lifestyle education and make referrals to other service providers as needed.  Qualifications: This position requires the minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics or Registered Dietetic Technician (DTR).  Breastfeeding experience helpful.  Reliable transportation and a driver's license meeting agency standards required.  Position is 30 - 37.5 hours per week with benefits.  Join our team of caring professionals promoting good nutrition for Women, Infants, and Children.  This position is open until filled.  EOE. 

Early Head Start Kitchen/Support Staff - Hornell:  Be part of the team providing age appropriate curriculum and nurturing care to infants and toddlers in a full-year, center based setting.  Primary responsibilities include: Preparing food (breakfast, lunch, snack), shopping for foods, proper storage of foods, and maintaining Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) paperwork.  Will also maintain a clean environment and provide coverage for staff breaks.  Must adhere to Head Start Performance Standards and New York State Day Care Regulations.  Qualifications: High School Diploma and experience with infants/toddlers; food preparation experience.  This position requires reliable transportation and a driver's license meeting agency standards.  This benefit eligible position is 6 hours per day, 30 hours per week, full year.  This position is open until filled.  EOE.

Senior Nutrition Program Site Manager - Hornell: Pro Action's Senior Nutrition Program is seeking a part time Site Manager to supervise the daily operations of our meal site at Broadway Mall in HornellResponsibilities include: Supervision of site staff and volunteers, providing quality customer service, inventory management, and data collection/reporting.  Must comply with Department of Health food and safety regulations and will be responsible for the quality of the final product served to customers.  Qualifications: High School Diploma and a minimum of one year of experience in serving, food safety, food preparation, and therapeutic diet knowledge required.  This position will have direct client contact - must be friendly, outgoing and have the ability to interact positively with Senior Nutrition Program customers.  Reliable transportation and a driver's license meeting agency standards are required.  This position is open until filled.  EOE.  . 

Special Education Manager: Pro Action's Head Start Program is seeking a Special Education Manager to work closely with the Head Start / UPK Education team in locations throughout Steuben and Yates Counties.  Responsibilities of this position include: ensuring completion of developmental screenings; assisting classroom teachers and parents with referrals to CPSE as needed; making classroom observations; modeling classroom management techniques; providing professional development to staff around the topics of disabilities and behavior management.  The Special Education Manager is also responsible for tracking and monitoring program compliance with Head Start Performance Standards regarding services to children with disabilities.  Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education is required, along with experience working with preschoolers with disabilities.  Must have reliable transportation and a driver's license meeting agency standards.  This is a full time position with full benefits.  EOE. 

Certified Teacher - Penn Yan: The Head Start Program of Pro Action is seeking a Certified Teacher for our classroom in Penn Yan, NY.  Duties Include: Providing Pre-K instruction in a classroom setting; implementing curriculum meeting the Head Start Early Learning Framework and NYS Pre-K Foundation for the Common Core; providing comprehensive services to children and families and adhering to Head Start Performance Standards and New York State Day Care Regulations. Qualifications: New York State certification in Early Childhood Education or Birth - Grade 2; or New York State certification in Special Education, Birth - Grade 2.  Prior experience working with preschool children, excellent organizational and time management skills, and flexibility are required.  EOE.

Head Start Resource Advocate - Two Positions in Steuben County: Responsible for completing home visits with program participants, organizing and facilitating parent education activities, recruiting and enrolling program eligible children and families.  Will establish a working knowledge of community resources, assist families in obtaining needed resources, support families in the goal setting process.  Will assist with classroom activities as needed.  Qualifications: Associates Degree in Human Services or other field related to Family or Social Services, SSCBT, or Family Development Credential required.  Will consider an equivalent combination of relevant courses and experience.  Position requires strong communication and organizational skills, along with strong computer skills and the ability to multi-task.  Must be able to work with multiple sites and teams.  A driver's license meeting agency standards is required.  Full time position (37.5 hours per week) with full benefits.  EOE. 


Early Childhood Teachers Needed for UPK Partnerships:
Pro Action's Head Start/UPK Program is seeking applicants for New York State Certified Teachers in the Hornell, Bath, and Wayland-Cohocton school districts.  Successful candidates will provide high quality Pre-K instruction in a classroom setting.  Position requires reliable transportation, and a valid driver's license meeting agency standards.  This is a 37.5 hour per week, 10-month position, based on the school calendar. 
Qualifications: New York State certification in Early Childhood Education or Birth - Grade 2 or NYS certification in Special Education Birth - Grade 2.  Prior experience working wit preschool age children, excellent organizational and time management skills, and flexibility are required. EOE.
 

One-to-One Teacher Assistant for Head Start/UPK Classrooms in Steuben County:
Position involves working one-on-one with assigned child.  Assigned work site varies based upon need.  Implements individual plans under the guidance of the classroom teacher.  Supports classroom staff with implementing classroom activities and has direct interaction with individual children.  Qualifications: Experience with young children and a high school diploma are required, Child Development Associates or Associates in Early Childhood preferred. 

Head Start/UPK Classroom Substitutes:
