Child Care Provider
Bulk Food Purchasing Program

Buying in larger quantities usually leads to a lower cost per unit!  That is why the Steuben Child Care Project’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) has created this new program for providers.  We have partnered with Reinhart Food Service in trying to bring that savings to you, the child care provider.  This is offered to all child care programs that participate in CACFP or are an ICAN Member.

Here is the process:

  1. Each Provider is sent an order sheet with their CACFP reimbursement check.

·         Review the order sheet

·         Select the items you would like to purchase

·         Note an authorized pick- up designee

·         Make a copy and return the original sheet with payment by the deadline listed on the order form  (this can be included with any Subsidy or CACFP claims as long as it is placed in a separate envelope with Attention Bulk Food Program written on the front.)

·         Payments can be made by cash*, check or credit card.

*If cash is the method of payment you choose, hand delivery of the order

form and payment must be made.

  1. You will need to schedule yourself or someone to come to the ICAN site to pick up your ordered items on the day and time listed on the order sheet.  This gives you some time to make pick-up arrangements.

  1. Pick up the items on the day and time listed on the order sheet.  Any items that are not picked up on the day or time listed will be donated to the local food bank and reimbursements will not be made.

We hope that this program will help providers meet the challenge of bringing down the cost of food for their program.  If the provider wants to split the cost of the items with another provider, that is their responsibility.  One provider must be in charge of the order and list a pick-up designee on the form.

Funding for this program is made possible by a court-approved settlement of anti-trust claims brought by the Office of the Attorney General.  The views and statements expressed herein do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the Attorney General.
