Q: What is Head Start?
A: Head Start is a federally funded child development program for preschool aged children, including children with disabilities.  The goal of the Head Start Program is to help prepare children for a successful transition to Kindergarten.
 
Q: Where are Head Start Centers located?
A: There are Head Start Centers throughout Steuben and Yates Counties.  To locate the center nearest you, call 1-800-553-2033, ext. 201.
 
Q: What is Early Head Start?   Click here for more information!
A: Early Head Start is a parental involvement program that offers services to pregnant women, children from birth to three years old and their families.  It is a home based program serving Steuben and Yates Counties.  Services are free to eligible families and include socialization opportunities, developmental assessments, assistance accessing health and wellness services, parent groups and referrals for vocational, literacy and other programs.
 
Q: What is Preschool Special Education?
A: Preschool Special Education provided for eligible children who have a disability that affects their learning.  Funding is provided through the New York State Education Department.
