Youth Employment Services (YES!):
YES! Careers: combines job skills training with "real world" experience to provide eligible youth with a strong foundation on which to build a successful career. Participants attend pre-employment skills training to develop an understanding of what employers expect on such issues as initiative, reliability, attendance, dress and hygiene, teamwork, and many other job skills. Participants are then placed into an actual job with a local employer who will reinforce the same skills. While participating in YES! Careers, each youth earns the current minimum wage and receives a bi-weekly paycheck. YES! Careers is funded by CSS Workforce New York and the US and NYS Departments of Labor.
A Partnership for Youth (APY): Schuyler, Chemung, and Steuben Project: assists eligible youth to build educational, employment, and life skills in order to increase employment opportunities and overall life success. Services/activities offered through the project include, but are not limited to: intensive case management, tutoring and study skills training, GED preparation, summer employment opportunities, paid and unpaid work experience, and leadership development opportunities. This comprehensive youth program is operated by Pro Action's Employment and Training and Family Development departments in collaboration with Catholic Charities of Schuyler and Chemung, the Youth Bureaus of Schuyler, Chemung, and Steuben Counties, and CSS Workforce New York.
Youth Employment Specialist: assists all youth ages 14-21 in accessing the services of the Career Center. The youth are offered free resume preparation, guidance in completing job applications, job search assistance, supportive service referral, and much more. The Youth Employment Specialist services are made possible by the AmeriCorps Kids First Initiative and CSS Workforce New York.
